Collectors and Guess co-founders Maurice and Paul Marciano plan to open the Maurice and Paul Marciano Art Foundation in Los Angeles in mid-November, according to curator Philipp Kaiser. Kaiser, a former senior curator at MOCA and curator of the 2017 Swiss Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, has been chosen to curate the museum's inaugural exhibition directly from the Marciano collection. The foundation will open in a 100,000-square-foot former Scottish Rite Masonic temple on Wilshire Boulevard, which the brothers first announced when they purchased it for $8 million in 2013. The building, under current renovation by Venice, California-based architects wHY, is slated for completion ahead of the inaugural exhibition, according to a representative of the firm. "The place is huge," says Kaiser, "like twice as big as MOCA."
